Travelers with Disabilities
Travelers with disabilities don't have to worry about a thing. All handicapped travelers are accommodated and
welcome. Facilities in Aruba meet all standards.
Queen Beatrix International Airport is friendly to all travelers with a major or minor disabilities and is wheelchair friendly.
The airport meets all standards set forth by the ADA (American Disabilities Act) including restrooms, hold rooms, ticketing and check-in areas and
food service areas. Attendants are always available with wheelchairs. There is also a fully equipped medical facility with highly
trained professionals. Arrangements can be made through this facility for special needs upon arrival and/or departure as well as
emergency treatment while at the airport. Personnel are also permitted aboard aircraft in emergencies and for evaluation.
Most hotels in Aruba have handicap accessible wheelchair friendly rooms.
Travelers who who are in need of physical assistance lease/rent medical and home-health-care products and service from Labco Medical and
Homecare Service N.V. (see below). Among their large assortment are oxygen delivery systems, wheelchair (standard & electric), walkers,
crutches, beds and scooters. It is advisable to make reservations in advance. Service is available 24-hours a day with free delivery to your hotel.
Personal assistance animals are permitted if accompanied by a health certificate reflecting recent rabies innoculations.
Medical Care
There are excellent medical facilities and many hotels also have doctors on call. There
is a modern, well-equipped hospital and a number of specialty clinics. In rare circumstances,
air evacuation to Curacao may be necessary. Doctors and the hospital will require payment
at the time of service and most health plans are not accepted. You may pay in cash or with
credit cards and in many cases you may submit a claim to your health insurance at home.

Medical equipment rental service is available from Labco Medical and Homecare Service N.V.
24-Hour service is available. The company is affiliated with the
American Home Healthcare Association as well as the National Oxygen Travel Services of

Pharmacies
Pharmacies (Boticas) will not fill a foreign prescription but will assist you
in making arrangments with a local doctor if necessary. Boticas also carry the usual
over-the-counter medications and additionally one drug store is open 24 hours on a
rotating schedule for emergency situations.

Food and Drink
Aruba's tap water is produced at the largest and most modern purification plant in the
Caribbean and is considered safe to drink. Milk is pasteurised and dairy products are safe
for consumption. Local meat, poultry, seafood, fruit and vegetables are available at several
large supermarkets and is generally considered safe to eat.
